LITTLE VILLAGE — The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information on the man known only as the "bandage bandit," who robbed a Fifth Third Bank branch in Little Village Tuesday afternoon. It was his eighth bank heist since March 31, according to the FBI.
The man, who robbed the bank at 2504 W. Cermak Road at about 2:10 p.m., is described as a dark-skinned black man in his mid-to-late forties, standing at about 6 feet with a medium build, the FBI said. The "bandage bandit" earned his moniker by wearing a large gauze bandage over his face in at least two of the incidents.
In each case, the man "entered the bank, approached a bank employee, and made a demand for money while threatening harm to bank employees and customers," according to the FBI. So far no one has been hurt in any of the robberies.
FBI officials said they suspect the man was also involved in the following robberies:
- About 9:45 a.m. March 31 at the PNC Bank branch at 2154 W. Madison St.;
- About 9:13 a.m. on April 6 at the Chase branch at 3010 W. Cermak;
- About 10:46 a.m. on April 22 at the PNC branch at 3337 W. North Ave.;
- About 9:12 a.m. on April 28 at the PNC branch at 2300 N. Western Ave.;
- About 1:51 p.m. on May 9 at the Chase branch at 3032 N. Clark St.;
- About 4:37 p.m. on May 15 at the Bank of America branch at 3051 N. Clark;
- About 12:53 p.m. on May 18 at the US Bank branch at 3051 N. Clark.
