CENTRAL LAKEVIEW — A beloved hot dog restaurant next to the Brown Line Wellington station has closed after five years.

Hot Diggity Dogs, 947 W. Wellington Ave., posted a sign thanking customers, "from our family to yours. It's been a fun five years."

Hot Diggity opened at the Wellington Avenue spot in August 2010, moving from its previous Streeterville shack, 251 E. Ohio St.

The restaurant offered Chicago-style street food, including $3 hot dogs, Italian beef, pizza puffs and tamales.
