CHICAGO — Chicago’s law and order power couple just got a little more juice.

Kristin Barnette, who married Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy on New Year’s Eve last year, was sworn in as second vice president of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois — an appointment that includes automatic succession to president in 2017.

“It’s wonderful,” said Barnette, who has been a WBA board member for five years. “Success in professional law doesn’t happen overnight, and after 10-plus years of practice, it’s nice to be recognized and know people are confident to appoint me to this position.”

Barnette, 36, said her top cop hubby is “very happy, supportive and proud.”

But McCarthy wasn’t at his wife’s swearing-in ceremony Thursday night because he was out of town doing his duty as first vice president of the Major Cities Chiefs Association’s summer meeting.
