LINCOLN PARK — Now's your chance to hear the works of acclaimed New York Times bestselling author George Saunders read for 24 hours straight.
The marathon event includes hour-long reading segments from some Chicago celebs and intellectuals such as Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy, Jesse Eisenberg and Adam Levin.
Saunders, a MacArthur "genius grant" winner known for his collections of short stories, will cap off the event with a lecture on "Why the Humanities? Why Art?"
The event is behind hosted by DePaul University's DePaul Humanities Center.
There will be a surprise special guest reader during the final hour Wednesday night.
Other readers include artists, authors and scholars.
The event kicks off Tuesday at 8 p.m. in room 120 of the DePaul Student Center, 2250 N. Sheffield Ave.
The special guest reader will read from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday before Saunders' lecture from 7 to 8 p.m.
