Man Fatally Shot in South Shore Identified

CHICAGO — A man who was critically wounded in South Shore early Saturday has died, officials said.

Around 1:25 a.m., a 19-year-old man was discovered in a building hallway in the 6800 block of South Ridgeland Avenue with a gunshot wound to his head, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Demetrius P. Hill Jr., of the 7100 block of South Constance Avenue, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
