ENGLEWOOD — Growing Home's free urban farm open house is scheduled for June 13.

The Wood Street Urban Farm, 5814 S. Wood St. will hold a Q & A, offer tours and put on cooking demonstrations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Activities such as face painting and scavenger hunting will be available for children. Participants can also purchase fresh produce from the farm stand onsite.  Refreshments will be available.

Begun in 2002, Growing Home is a non-profit that provides job training for low-income people through organic food growing. Produce is sold at farmers markets and is USDA certified organic.

"By providing 25 hours per week of paid on-the-job experience and job readiness at our farms, plus the support to conquer issues like criminal records, medical needs, child care and housing, we have changed the lives of hundreds of workers, and thousands of their family members," according to Growing Home's website.
