Austin Homicide Due to 'Sudden Death After Fight,' Autopsy Shows

CHICAGO — A 52-year-old man died following a fight in Austin Thursday, according to police.

Police found John Rainey, of the 300 block of North Menard Ave, dead inside his home Thursday night following a fight with another man, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Rainey was pronounced dead at 11:28 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

His death was ruled a homicide caused by "sudden death following a scuffle" along with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The secondary cause was listed as diabetes mellitus, according to the morgue.

No one is in custody for the incident, police said.
