Police Warn of Three Near West Side Robberies This Week

CHICAGO — Police are warning Near West Side residents to be extra alert after three people were robbed this week.

During the three incidents, two or three men approach victims and show them a gun before robbing them, police said.

The incidents occurred as follows:

• Around 8 a.m. Monday, in the 1400 block of South Ashland Avenue

• Around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, in the 1300 block of South Racine Avenue

• Around 4 a.m. Wednesday, in the 1100 block of West 21st Street

The thieves were described as black men in their early 20s standing around 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds, police said.
