CHICAGO — A 62-year-old man died Monday night after being hit by a CTA bus in Canaryville.

Around 9:06 p.m., the man was struck by a bus after he tripped into the intersection of 43rd and Halsted streets, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

The man was identified as Errol Ellison, of the 4200 block of South Princeton Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 10:51 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Major Accidents Unit is investigating his death.
