HYDE PARK — Former CIA Director Michael Morell, who briefed the president about the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, will visit the University of Chicago to talk terrorism on Thursday.

Morell will talk about his book “The Great War of Our Time: the CIA’s Fight Against Terrorism from Al Qaida and ISIS” with U. of C. political science professor Robert Pape at 5 p.m. at the International House, 1414 E. 59th St.

Morell was the one of the first people to explain to President George W. Bush the terrorism attacks on New York and was an advisor to President Barack Obama during the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.

Journalist Seymour Hersch in the London Review of Books called the government’s explanation of the Bin Laden operation into question last week, claiming that the Al Qaida leader’s body was scattered over the mountains of Pakistan, not buried at sea, as the government asserts.

The event sponsored by the university’s Chicago Project on Security and Terrorism is free and open to the public.
