Worker Electrocuted on Brown Line in Lincoln Park, Officials Say

CHICAGO — A worker was electrocuted while working on the Brown Line elevated track in Lincoln Park Saturday, officials said.

Around 4:55 p.m., the Chicago Fire Department responded to a man unresponsive at 820 West North Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The worker was electrocuted on the tracks near North and Halsted, fire officials said.

Kevin Benoit, 30, of Midlothian, was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Benoit was a contract worker for the CTA, according to Tammy Chase, CTA spokeswoman.

The CTA had crews working throughout the weekend along the Brown Line as part of the Ravenswood Connector project.
