CHICAGO — An Auburn Gresham man was charged in the sexual assault of a woman on the Red Line early Sunday morning.

Ronald Sparks, a 34-year-old man from the 7700 block of South Throop Street, was arrested after he was spotted by a officer inside an "L" car near the Chicago Red Line station at 1:45 a.m. Monday, police said.

The officer noticed he matched the description of a suspect who assaulted a 27-year-old woman in a train between the Fullerton and Clark/Division stations at 5 a.m. Sunday.

Police issued an alert for the man Sunday night, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Sparks is due in court Tuesday on a felony aggravated criminal sexual assault charge.
