6 Things to Do With Your Mom in Wicker Park This Weekend

WICKER PARK —  It's gearing up to be another busy weekend in Wicker Park, so whether your mom is a foodie or a shopper or a gardener, there is probably something fun you can do with her over the holiday weekend.

For Shoe-Lover Moms

City Soles, a Wicker Park shopping staple for nearly 20 years, will be celebrating its grand opening in a new storefront on Friday. Designer shoe giveaways, music and a fashion show are on tap. The free shindig is set for 7-10 p.m., 1514 N. Milwaukee Ave. For more info, visit the event's Facebook page.

For Green-Thumbed Moms

The annual Wicker Park Garden Club Plant Sale will offer vegetables, herbs, flowering annuals, hanging baskets and a special "Plant and Grow" area for kids, as well as a workshop on how to grow vegetables in containers for adults.

Proceeds from the sale will go to the maintenance of volunteer-tended park gardens as well as the club's lecture series. Sale hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 1425 N. Damen Ave. Admission is free but there's a $15 charge for the adult workshop.

For Brunch-Loving Moms

Steps from one of the Bloomingdale Trail's six ground-level access parks, Presidio is debuting a new brunch menu on Sunday.

Menu highlights include an open-faced breakfast burrata made with raisin bread; lobster benedict; pisco-cured Irish salmon over an everything bagel; and pork collar hash. Brunch is available from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Presidio, 1749 N. Damen Ave.

The Chop Shop is offering a free mimosa to moms with any brunch entree from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, 2033 W. North Ave. Make a reservation here.

For Moms Who Love Good Deals

A new meatball-focused eatery, Mondo Meatball, is offering one free meatball entree (dine-in only) to moms from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, 1467 N. Milwaukee Ave.

If your mom uses her smartphone to check in via Facebook at Black Bull Tapas' new Spanish brunch, she will eat for free.

Normally $25 for a three-course menu with items that can also be ordered a la carte, the brunch, launching Sunday, includes pastries, torrijas (a Spanish French toast), Hamburguesa Ibérica and more. Hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m.  1721 W. Division St.
