WICKER PARK —  Leaders from Ravenswood and Wicker Park are joining forces for a crosstown mixer that will help small business owners from both neighborhoods get connected after a long winter.

Jointly sponsored by the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce and the newly formed Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce, the free social — open to the pubic and members of both groups — is set for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rooted Self Expression Center, 2221 W. North Ave.

Erik Harmon, executive director of the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, said the goal was "to help our businesses make connections not only within our neighborhood, but outside it as well."

Complimentary cocktails from Ravenswood's Koval distillery and appetizers from River Valley Farmer’s Table will be available, along with free 30-minute visual art "mini-sessions" for any attendees that want to try out the Rooted Center's "fitness for the soul" exercises.

The Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce was formed earlier this year and is tied to a 57-year history of Ravenswood Community Council’s work within the area’s commercial corridors, said Megan Bunimovich, the group's leader.

"We hope this partnership helps lead to increased awareness of what’s happening in Chicago’s vast business community," Bunimovich said.
