NOBLE SQUARE — Chicago has one of the largest concentration of Poles outside of Poland, and eager to look back on three decades of everyday life in the Eastern European country can do that in new photo exhibit opening next week.

"Between the Lines, Poland 1974-1990" will spotlight several dozen images from Poland taken by Stanislaw Kulawiak and "Group SEM," a trio of photographers, Zbigniew Bzdak, Adam Rzepecki and Kulawiak. An opening reception is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. May 16 at the Polish Museum of America, 984 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Kulawiak, a photojournalist from Krakow, met Bzdak and Rzepecki in the 1970s when they formed Creative Group SEM. One of their projects was a life-sized image of food lines displayed as a 70-foot-long mural that will be recreated as a focal point of the upcoming exhibition.

"Between the Lines" runs through June 30.

Admission is a suggested donation of $10 for adults, $5 for museum members.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last admission at 3:15 p.m.) Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday (last admission at 6:15 p.m.) For more information on the exhibit, visit the Polish Museum of America's Facebook page or call 773-384-3352.
