DOWNTOWN — City officials are figuring that Taste of Chicago music fans don't stop believin.'

In what's being billed as "Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery," the city will turn the Bud Light Stage at Columbus and Balbo over to tribute bands on Sunday, July 12.

Gnarly.

The lineup on the 12th includes:

Noon: The Soul of James Brown

Band front man Ty Stone says he not only sings like the Godfather of Soul but has the moves down, too. We feel good already!

1:30 p.m.: The Chicago Rat Pack, featuring the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

Old Blue Eyes died in 1988.  Sammy in 1990. Deano in 1995. The music lives on.

3 p.m.: Infinity plays the music of Journey.

The band's web site says, "Infinity has no limits or boundaries." You've been warned.

4:45 p.m.: Beatles tribute band American English

"Best Beatle act since the Beatles," says veteran Chicago DJ Dick Biondi. Maybe even better.

6:30 p.m.: All Things Mayfield, honoring Curtis Mayfield.

Hard to understand. What a hell of a man. Oh, sooop-er-fly.

In a different form of throwback, The Chicago Six is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. on Saturday July 11. The rock band includes former 1985 Bears Dan Hampton, Steve McMichael and Otis Wilson.

Want new music? Well, if you must. The rest of the line up for the Taste of Chicago, which runs July 8-12, see here.
