Police Warn of Robberies in Portage Park

CHICAGO — Police are warning Portage Park residents to take extra precaution after several robberies in the neighborhood over the last few weeks.

During the incidents, one or two men walked up behind the victim, demanded their belongings and forcibly took them from their victims, police said.

The incidents happened at the following times and locations:

• Around 11:50 p.m. on March 30, in the 5300 block of West Patterson Avenue

• Around 12:15 a.m. on April 10, in the 5100 block of West Grace Avenue

• Around 6:20 a.m. on April 19, in the 3900 block of North Long Avenue

One of the thieves is described as a 25-year-old black man around 6 feet tall and weighing around 190 pounds. He was wearing a blue sweat shirt and black pants, police said.

No specific description was available for the other suspects.
