PILSEN — Police are urging residents to stay alert after two strong-arm robberies occurred in Pilsen last week.

In the robberies, a man approached victims on the street and forcibly took a cell phone or laptop computer from the person, according to CPD officials.

The incidents occurred at about 1 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of South Laflin Street and at about 2 a.m. Friday in the 1600 block of South Ashland Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 40 years old and wearing a green or olive heavy coat.

In light of the recent robberies, residents should be aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity immediately, police said. If confronted by an assailant, remain calm and dial 9-1-1 immediately when possible.

Police are asking anyone with information on the crimes to contact detectives at 312-747-8382.
