2 Police Officers Among 5 Injured in Garfield Park Crash Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two police officers and three others were injured in a car crash early Friday morning, police said.

Around 12:10 a.m., a police SUV was traveling northbound on Homan Avenue when it was struck by a black sedan heading westbound in the 3400 block of West Congress Parkway, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The police SUV was hit on its passenger side and rolled over onto its roof, Cooper said.

The officers were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 19-year-old woman driving the other car and a woman in the passenger seat were taken to Stroger Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A man in the car was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Cooper said.

Tickets are pending against the driver of the car, Cooper said.
