UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — The "world's largest block party" is moving to a new location this summer.

Previously staged in front of Old St. Pat's church, the block party now will be staged at the UIC Festival lot from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. on June 27.

The UIC Festival lot's entry gate will be on Morgan Street between Taylor Street and Roosevelt Road. Shuttles will be available to take crowds to the entrance gate from Old St. Pat's, located at Adams and Desplaines streets in the West Loop.

Block party organizers decided to move the festival after one of the parking lots the church traditionally used to host the event was sold, according to Lisa Ripson, a block party spokeswoman. That land now will be redeveloped.

Organizers expect to announce headliners soon. Five food trucks will serve up snacks on-site.

Tickets, which will go on sale in mid-May, are $40 in advance or $45 at the door and include two free drink tickets. VIP tickets will be on sale for $85.

The block party celebrated its 30th year with performances by Third Eye Blind and Guster, among others, over two days last year.

Proceeds from the Old St. Pat's World's Largest Block Party support Old St. Patrick's Church and the Center for Social Concerns on the Old St. Pat’s campus. The center houses a number of outreach programs, including Horizons for Youth; Career Transitions Center of Chicago and the Global Alliance for Africa.
