CHICAGO — Police have issued a warning after a man robbed three taxi cabs in the Near West Side and the Loop Wednesday night.
In each incident, a man hailed a cab and asked to be dropped off near a CTA entrance, police said in a statement.
As the man prepared to get out of the cab, he pulled out a black handgun and demanded the driver's money and cell phone, police said.
The most recent robbery of the night occurred at 8 p.m. in the 200 block of South Dearborn Street. The other robberies occurred at 7:20 p.m. in the 500 block of South Clinton Street, and 6:40 p.m. in the 400 block of South Clinton Street, police said.
The robber is described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old, wearing a dark hat, sunglasses and a black jacket, with white lettering on his pants.
Police believe the robber ran to nearby CTA station to get away.
