CHICAGO — Five people were injured in car accident in West Garfield Park late Thursday, police said.
Around 11 p.m., a 28-year-old man driving a Mercury Marquis westbound in the 4000 block of West Lake Street crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Pontiac Grand Am, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a Chicago Police spokesman.
Two women in the Pontiac were taken to Stroger Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third person in the car declined medical attention, Sullivan said.
The 28-year-old man and the passenger of the Mercury were also taken to Stroger with non-life-threatening injuries, Sullivan said.
The 28-year-old is in custody, and traffic tickets are pending, Sullivan said.
According to police, alcohol might have played a role in the accident.
