ANDERSONVILLE — Hamburger Mary's has reopened after getting shut down for alleged health code violations earlier this week.
A city inspector shut down the restaurant, 5400 N. Clark St., Tuesday after finding what officials described as mice droppings on three levels of the building, improper food temperatures and other sanitation issues.
The popular burger joint reopened Thursday evening at 6 p.m., according to co-owner Ashley Wright.
"This has been a very humbling experience," said Wright. "It's a real eye-opener for us. Obviously, we dropped the ball on some things, and we own up to that. We definitely will be making some changes, some staffing changes."
Mina Bloom discussed the closure on DNAinfo Radio:
He added: "We're going to look at the whole operation to make some changes where we feel we need to so this doesn't happen again."
When asked what those changes will be, Ashley said that'll be determined in the coming weeks.
"We haven't even had a chance to debrief after this whole thing with owners and managers," he said. "It's not about blame, it's about figuring out how to do a better job moving forward."
