RIVER NORTH — Truffle lovers will soon have a new home at Eataly.

The River North grocerant, 43 E. Ohio St., next week will open a "Truffle Bar" pop-up store, the first American restaurant dedicated to the prized mushrooms, according to an announcement from the store.

Truffle Bar will be open from March 23 to April 5, with menu items ranging from a $9 crostini with black truffle spread, to a $19 tagliatelle with black truffle-and-mushroom sauce. Before the opening, Eataly will choose 10 diners to enjoy a free meal for two at the pop-up store-within-a-store.

The rare fungus is revered as a delicacy by many afficionados, and prices reflect the truffle's rarity and allure. Last fall, Paris Club Bistro & Bar served a five-course truffle dinner for $150 per person.
