CHICAGO — Even if it's just a few minutes, Chicagoans should take time to enjoy the sun Monday — because the temperatures won't last, according to the National Weather Service.

While temperatures could reach as high as 77 degrees Monday they won't exceed 50 degrees for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday morning will be partly sunny with strong southwest winds. While 77 degrees is not a record high for March 16, it is extremely rare. The record is 82 degrees set back in 2012, according to Amy Seeley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

According to Tom Skilling, temperatures have reached 70 plus degrees on March 16 five times.

The heat won't last; by Monday night temperatures should be back in the 40s. By Thursday temperatures should return to the high 40s, according to the National Weather Service.
