NORWOOD PARK — The enduring tale of a 13-year-old girl's attempt to escape the horrors of the Holocaust is the subject of Resurrection College Prep High School's spring play.

Students at the all-girls Catholic high school will perform "The Diary of Anne Frank" by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett as adapted by Wendy Kesselman.

Performances will take place at 7 p.m. March 20 and March 21 and at 3 p.m. March 22 in the Resurrection Little Theatre at 7500 W. Talcott Ave.

Frank chronicled her family's attempt to escape the Nazi regime and the German Gestapo who were intent on exterminating Jews. The family hides, along with others, in a secret annex above a business in Brussels during World War II from 1942-44.

Resurrection Theatre Arts teacher Mary Katherine Bohlander will direct the performance, assisted by Resurrection students Mary Pat Hastings and Erin McDonaugh.

The cast includes students Sophia Acevedo as Anne Frank, Mary Jo McManamon as her sister, Margot, Brianna Ortega as her father and Angela Yonan as her mother.
