MORGAN PARK — Red Clay Dance will premiere its first evening-length show at 7 p.m. on May 1-2 at the Beverly Arts Center.
The Englewood-based dance company will debut ri'flekSHens in 6, a performance presented in six sections. The 60-75 minute show is inspired by the relationship between fathers and daughters.
"A girl's father is one of the most influential people in her life. His influence shapes her self-esteem, self-image, confidence and opinions of men," said Vershawn Ward, the founder and executive artistic director of Red Clay Dance.
The dance company dedicated to creating, performing and teaching African Diaspora-inspired work celebrates its seventh anniversary this spring.
"One of my goals this year was to expand our body of work so that the company is ready for touring. With this work complete, I feel we are ready," Ward said.
Tickets to the show at 2407 W. 111th St. in Morgan Park cost $10-50. A VIP ticket package is available on May 2, which includes a post-show reception.
