GOLD COAST — If you're planning to party at the Gold Coast's medical museum, expect to encounter a different kind of body shot.

"Notes on Life: Visual Lectures from the Vitruvian Fine Studio" features art focused on teaching life drawing and anatomy. The exhibit, part of the International Museum of Surgical Science's ongoing "Anatomy in the Gallery" program, opens with a free reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 13.

The new exhibit includes drawings and sculptures by local artists Melinda Whitmore and David Jamieson, who specialize in so-called "visual lectures" on the human anatomy.

The exhibit runs through May 22 at the museum, 1524 N. Lake Shore Drive. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, educators, and active military personnel; and $7 for youth up to age 13. Tuesday admission is free.
