CHICAGO — Two police officers saved an man's life when he stopped breathing Monday in Englewood, police said.

Around 4:45 p.m., two officers arrived at the 67-year-old man's home in the 7100 block of South Marshfield Avenue and were greeted by distraught family members who said the man was not breathing, police said in a release Monday.

One of the officers began performing CPR on the man, and the officers worked together to revive him. The Chicago Fire Department arrived minutes later and took the man to University of Chicago Medicine, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Both officers are two-year veterans of the force and work third shift in the Englewood District, police said.
