CHICAGO— Although we have a few more days until February is over, this month is already the second coldest February in Chicago history.
The average temperature for the month of February so far is 15.8 degrees, said Amy Seeley, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
Though the month isn't done yet, it's the second coldest February in Chicago on record, Seeley said. The coldest February on record was in 1875, when the average temperature was 14.6 degrees, Seeley said.
Chicago is far below its February average which is 27.7 degrees, Seeley added.
Tom Kines, a meteorologist with AccuWeather predicts the cold weather pattern to end in the next couple of weeks.
"We will see above normal temperatures during April and May," Kines said.
