Englewood Shooting Leaves Man Dead Friday

CHICAGO — A man was found fatally shot in Englewood Friday night.

Around 5:46 p.m., police responding to a call of shots fired found a 25-year-old man unresponsive in the back of a building in the 5600 block of South Green Street, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The victim was identified as Malcolm Tompkins, 25, of the 5600 block of South Peoria Street by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He was pronounced dead at 6:41 p.m. at Stroger Hospital.

No one is in custody, and police are investigating.
