WICKER PARK — From free ramen to pizza, there will be several places to get free bites to eat this week in Wicker Park.
On Monday, MedSpring opened its fifth Chicago outpost at 1520 N. Damen Ave., adjacent to The Violet Hour and near the CTA Blue Line stop.
The medical clinic, which sees patients over age 1, provides treatment for common illnesses and injuries, and also offers on-site labs, x-rays/radiology, occupational health screening and testing for STDs.
MedSpring's open house party is set for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. According to a tweet, the event will include free hand warmers and complimentary pizza from Piece, along with a raffle for a chance to win prizes.
Meanwhile, Furious Spoon at 1571 N. Milwaukee Ave. plans to open its doors at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Chef Shin Thompson announced earlier this month that he will be giving away free bowls of ramen (one per person) to the first 100 people in line.
Lastly, Toppers Pizza at 1658 N. Milwaukee Ave., which opened on Monday, will be giving away 9-inch personal pizzas, or "myzas," from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
But yes, there is a catch, you have to "like" Toppers on Facebook or follow the eatery on Twitter before you can choose either a pizza or an order of Topperstix, the chain's version of cheesy bread sticks.
