HYDE PARK — Eating cookies could help a Hyde Park cat find a new home this Valentine’s Day.

Hyde Park Cats, a neighborhood group that helps find foster care and eventually new homes for stray and homeless cats in the neighborhood, will hold a bake sale fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Parker’s, 1342 E. 55th St.

The group has helped find homes for 10 cats in the last week, but is still looking for homes for about 40 cats, including Coco.

“Coco Chanel Shaw is a really active and playful girl obsessed with the laser pointer,” according to the adoption website, hydeparkcats.org. “Her fosterer describers her as an ‘easy kitty’ who loves attention, greeting people at the door and sleeping next to her fosterer’s pillow every night.”

Unlike shelters, the cats helped by Hyde Park Cats stay with a foster family, often in Hyde Park, until a permanent home can be found.
