Man Tried to Kidnap Boy Walking to School, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police are searching for a man after he attempted to kidnap a child walking to school in West Elsdon Thursday morning.

Around 8:15 a.m., the man tried to grab the boy while he was walking to school in the 5700 block of South Keeler Avenue, but the boy was able to break free and run home, police said. Police did not know the boy's age, but said he was an elementary school-aged child.

The man is described as a white man between the ages of 55 and 60 with long grey hair and an unshaven face. The man, who stands about 5-foot-7 and weighs between 165 to 175 lbs, was wearing a grey stocking hat, black jacket and black converse shoes, police said.
