UKRAINIAN VILLAGE — Ever wonder what it would be like to have a criminal mind, or how you can protect your home from burglars?
This Saturday, convicted burglars will provide some insight into the mind of a thief at the Near West Police District's burglary prevention seminar, "Keeping it Real."
Scheduled for 9-11 a.m, the event will take place in the basement of St. Helen's School, 2347 W. Augusta Blvd. Credit hours are available for students. Call 312-746-8306 for more information.
Next week, at two Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy meetings, local officers are prepared to meet with Bucktown and Noble Square residents who are concerned about crime or want to know what types of crime to watch out for based on recent statistics.
Shakespeare District beat officers and resident facilitators will be on hand for each meeting.
Feb. 18
A meeting for the Wicker Park, Bucktown and Logan Square areas will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 18 at the Bucktown/Wicker Park library, 1701 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Beat 1434 is a bordered by Armitage Avenue on the north, North Avenue on the south, Wood Street on the east, and Rockwell Street on the west.
Feb. 19
A meeting for Beat 1433 will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Pulaski Park, 1419 W. Blackhawk St. in Noble Square.
Beat 1433 is a bordered by Armitage Avenue on the north, Division Street on the south, Wood Street on the west and the Chicago River on the east.
