WICKER PARK —  If slipping on the ice and breaking a bone happens to anyone in Wicker Park, the good news is that a new urgent care clinic can offer X-rays and a doctor can set bones in a cast, all in the same visit.

Set to open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Physicians Immediate Care at 1704 N. Milwaukee Ave., across from the library, will be offering free Glazed and Infused doughnuts and coffee until supplies run out, a spokesman said.

The 4,200 square-foot medical office, which replaces the shuttered Scoop NYC boutique offers a digital X-ray table as well as six exam rooms, including a trauma room and a pediatrics room.

Technicians can X-ray a broken bone and staff doctors can set it without the patient having to come back for a second visit.

Dr. James Marauski, a Bucktown resident, previously worked at a Physicians Immediate Care in Rogers Park and has transferred to the new location, said Jimmy Quattrocki, a manager of community relations for the chain, which has over 34 locations in Illinois, Indiana and Nebraska.

When asked why the Wicker Park and Bucktown area was selected for the fast-growing chain's 7th city location, Quattrocki said, "We've been serving Illinois for over 25 years, and a number of our patients that use our other locations live right in Bucktown and Wicker Park. We realized there was a need in this community for walk-in urgent care services. We found a central location for the area, right down the street from multiple L stops, with dedicated parking. And, our doctor lives right in the neighborhood."

Quattrocki said that the center will also sell medical supplies such as crutches made for children.

Though the clinic is walk-in, the new location will be launching an online check-in, where you can make a reservation in advance online, and, when in the waiting room, patients can see a digital board that show how many people are ahead of them in line.

Current there are 8 dedicated parking spot in a lot in front of the building. The medical office has an adjacent unrented storefront that will be sharing parking with the new office.

Quattrocki said that Physicians Immediate Care accepts most insurance plans and bills insurance companies directly for services. There are also self-pay options, with three payment levels for simple, moderate and complex cases.

Complex cases, which start at $250 for patients without insurance, include foreign object removal and stitches, while simple visits, which start at $150 for the uninsured, include treating bladder infections, insect bites and the flu.

Urgent care clinics, part of a $14.5 billion dollar industry hoping to capitalize on "changing healthcare landscape" are popping up around the country at a fast pace, the New York Times reported in July.

On Feb. 19, another urgent care clinic, MedSpring, will be opening at 1520 N. Damen Ave., replacing a former PNC Bank branch.

MedSpring will be offering free pizza from Piece for its grand opening as well as hand warmers, according to a tweet.

Physician's Immediate Care, 1702 N. Milwaukee Ave. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friady; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.  Ph: 773-770-4056.
