CHICAGO — A man is dead and another is hospitalized after a stabbing at a party in the South Loop Sunday night.

A 23-year-old man and 28-year-old man were both attending a party in the 2300 block of South Michigan Avenue when the 28-year-old got into an argument with his girlfriend around 8 p.m., said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The 23-year-old intervened in the argument and was stabbed in his stomach by the 28-year-old. During the fight, the 28-year-old was also stabbed multiple times, Estrada said.

The 23-year-old was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

Antonio Gamboa, of the 1600 block of North Kimball Avenue, was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 28-year-old's condition was not released, but he was stable at  Northwestern Hospital, Estrada said.

No charges were filed early Monday, Estrada said.
