COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Garfield Ridge man was ambushed by armed robbers last week when he showed up for a date with a woman he met on Facebook, prosecutors said.

Matthew Brosmore, 17, and an accomplice stole the man's wallet, cash and cellphone before driving off in the victim's 2011 Chevy Malibu, Assistant State's Attorney Barry Quinn alleged in court Tuesday.

The 27-year-old victim had agreed to pick up a woman he met on Facebook in the 5900 block of West 64th Street about 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 19, prosecutors said.

As the woman walked to the victim's car, he unlocked his doors, Quinn said. She then stepped aside, and Brosmore hopped in the passenger seat and pulled a knife, Quinn said.

According to an arrest report, Brosmore told the man to "give me what you got."

The teen's accomplice, meanwhile, got in the back seat and pointed a gun at the victim's head, Quinn said. The victim handed over his cellphone, wallet, cash and car keys before getting out of the car.

Brosmore and his accomplice drove off in the Malibu, according to a police report. Quinn said the woman also got away, and the victim's car, money and cellphone were never recovered.

Police arrested Brosmore, who lives on the street where the attack took place, after the victim identified him in a photo array, prosecutors said.

Brosmore, who's currently on juvenile probation for aggravated battery, was charged as an adult with two counts of felony aggravated vehicular hijacking.

Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois ordered him held in lieu of $750,000 bail on Tuesday.
