UPTOWN — Looking for a cup of locally roasted coffee in Uptown? The Heritage folks have got you covered.

A little more than a month ago, the highly anticipated Heritage Coffee Outpost opened in the lobby of the FLATS Chicago building at 1325 W. Wilson Ave. An extension of Heritage Bicycles General Store in Lakeview, the coffee shop was originally scheduled to open at the end of November.

Adam Rahn, who runs Heritage's coffee program, said the owners are excited to be in a neighborhood that Chicagoans don't necessarily associate with locally roasted coffee.

"We're looking forward to doing something a little different in Uptown," Rahn said.

At the coffee shop, bikes are a focus, which is evident seeing as there's a signature bike on display. Plus, they plan on selling small bike accessories in the near future such as tubes and patch kits for those looking to fix a flat tire, said Rahn, adding that they won't be selling anything larger because they don't want to step on the toes of cycling businesses in the neighborhood.

As for food and drinks, patrons can either order from a to-go window or take a seat at one of the marble-top tables inside. In addition to coffee, the menu features pastries and light sandwiches from local purveyors like Southport Grocer and Bang Bang Pie.

In the coming weeks, Rahn said he's also looking to bring locally sourced chocolate and juice to the menu.

This weekend, the Lakeview bike store, which is owned by Mike Salvatore and his wife, Melissa, is celebrating its three-year anniversary.

To celebrate both the anniversary and the new Uptown location, the Heritage folks are offering one lucky Chicagoan a free bike.

All Heritage fans have to do is post a picture on Instagram that answers the following question: "What do bikes and/or coffee culture mean to me?" That, and use the hashtags @heritagebicycle and #3YearHeritage.

The bike giveaway contest will run through Jan. 31.
