NORTH PARK — Tackle self-improvement and home-improvement projects simultaneously at Sweden Shop's new sewing classes.

Grab a yard or two of fabric and, in the course of an afternoon, learn how to transform the material into reversible napkins, placemats and/or a table runner.

The class is open both to beginners looking to gain a new skill and more experienced sewers aiming to polish their technique. Cost is $40; the shop provides everything except the fabric.

The first class is scheduled for 2-5 p.m. Saturday, 3304 W. Foster Ave. A second session is planned for 2-5 p.m., Feb. 28.
