Garfield Park Shooting Leads to Charges Against Two Men

CHICAGO — Two 22-year-old men are facing multiple charges after they fled from police after shooting a man in Garfield Park Sunday night, police said.

Anthony Harris, of the 1600 block of South Komensky Avenue was charged with aggravated battery, armed robbery and criminal trespassing, police said.

Joshua Almore, of the 9300 block of South Ada Street was charged with aggravated battery, armed robbery, unlawful transport of a stolen car and driving without a license, police said.

Around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, police saw Almore and Harris open fire from a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 3100 block of West Grand Avenue striking a 23-year-old man in his heel, police said.

The 23-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Almore and Harris drove off in the SUV before crashing into an iron fence of a muffler shop in the 3000 block of West Madison Street. After crashing the SUV, Almore and Harris tried to run away but were caught, police said.

While chasing the two, a police officer was attacked by a guard dog that bit him in his ankle, leading him to shoot and kill the dog, police said.

The officer was taken to Rush Hospital in good condition, police said.

Almore and Harris are expected in bond court Tuesday, police said.
