UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — A University Village resident who has worked to clean the neighborhood's viaducts will be honored by the community at a UIC men's basketball game this month.

University Commons resident Michelle Fennessy will be honored at the UIC-Connecting 4 Communities Community Day at a UIC men's basketball game Jan. 31 at the UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine Ave.

Fennessy spearheaded efforts to clean up city viaducts and launched a petition urging railway officials to repair the aging infrastructure. She continues to lobby city leaders to develop a long-term plan to deal with viaduct issues in the neighborhood and across the city.

Tickets to the 2 p.m. game Jan. 31 will be discounted to $5. Neighbors living around UIC can buy discounted tickets online with the code COMMUNITY14. Kids under 3 years old get free admission.
