Police Warn Residents of Robberies in Hyde Park and Washington Park

CHICAGO — Chicago police issued a community alert after robberies in Hyde Park and Washington Park earlier this month.

In each incident, the suspects approached victims, pulled out a handgun and robbed them, police said.

The most recent robbery occurred Jan. 9 at 6:15 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Ingleside Avenue in Hyde Park. The first armed robbery was  Jan. 7 at 5 a.m., in the first block of East Garfield Boulevard in Washington Park, police said.

Two of the suspects are described as black men 16-25 years old, 5-foot-9  to 6-foot-1, and 150 to 170 pounds. One was wearing a red hooded sweater and red shoes; the other was wearing a black hooded sweater.

The third suspect was described as a black man 20-25 years old, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-1, and 140 to 160 pounds.
