LAKEVIEW — A winter warehouse sale packed with thousands of designer children's clothing items priced up to 85 percent off will be returning for its ninth year, and organizers are cautioning "no strollers" on the first day due to crowds.
"People line up early; it's very friendly and orderly. We discourage strollers on the first day. Baby Bjorns [strapped to a parent's chest] are fine," said Jennifer Pope, founder of The Red Balloon Co., at 1940 N. Damen Ave. in Bucktown.
Scheduled for 10 a.m.-6 p.m. next Jan. 22-23 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 24-25, the warehouse sale will be held in Red Balloon's new permanent Lakeview location, 3651 N. Southport Ave., which is set to open in March.
The sale will feature brands from past seasons such as Little Traveler, La Miniatura, Stella, Egg, Charlie Rocket, Nano and more.
The majority of the clothing will be fall and winter items, including jackets, shoes, pants and dresses as well as some summer items and special inventory that has never been sold inside of Red Balloon Co.
Organized by gender, garment type and size, all items will range from $5 to $60, and there will be stickers of various colors that correspond to the price.
In past years, the sale has attracted as many as 500 bargain hunters on the first day and a few hundred shoppers on subsequent days.
