SOUTH LOOP — Fans of music and/or public education, Reggies Music Joint has a fundraiser for you.
Reggies, a bar and record store at 2105 S. State St., will host a fundraiser for the South Loop Elementary School starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Guests will be treated to two performances by "School of Rock," a cover band comprised of SLES students. The band will play a "classic metal" set at 1 p.m. and a collection of Red Hot Chili Peppers songs at 3 p.m. There will also be raffle prizes.
Guests can contribute to the school by purchasing Reggie Bucks at the bar, which will be good for food, drinks, and records at the Reggies record store. Half of the Reggie Bucks sales will go to SLES, 1212 S. Plymouth Court.
The fundraiser is the first of its kind for the school, which wants to build out computer and science labs for the preschool, among other projects, SLES parent Virginia Dan said.
