CHICAGO — A 31-year-old man was charged with the murder of a 40-year-old woman in Lawndale in May 2012.
The 40-year-old woman, Melissa Woods, was found dead in an abandoned building in the 1500 block of South Sawyer Avenue around 6:05 p.m. May 28, 2012, police said.
Marquell Palmer of Downstate Bloomington was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday after being held in Wisconsin on an unrelated charge, police said.
Detectives worked with the Bloomington Police Department to gather evidence and solve the case. Palmer is expected in bond court Wednesday, police said.
