Early Child Care Classes To Offer Expert Advice for New, Expectant Moms

WEST ROGERS PARK — Jewish Child and Family Services plans to host a four-session wellness program for new and expectant mothers.

The $40 program, taking place in January and February, will feature experts discussing and offering demonstrations on subjects including health and nutrition, sleep training, breastfeeding and infant massage.

The following sessions will run on Sundays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Virginia Frank Child Development Center, 3033 W. Touhy Ave.:

Jan. 4: "Health and Nutrition during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding," with Tatum Stern, registered dietitian, nutrition coach

Jan. 11: "Will I Be Sleep-Deprived Forever?," with Sabrina Stempel, certified maternity and child sleep consultant

Feb. 1: "Breastfeeding: Common Issues and Concerns" with Shevy Lowinger, breastfeeding peer counselor, certified lactation counselor at UIC Hospital

Feb. 8: "Infant Massage: Mom and Baby Benefits," with Maggie Faulkenberry, certified infant massage specialist

Child care is not available, but mothers are welcome to bring babies 6 months old and younger. Enrollment is limited to 30 women.
