HYDE PARK — Chicago artist Melika Bass will unveil a new installation at the Hyde Park Art Center on Jan. 18.

Bass will take over the upstairs Kanter-McCormick Gallery at the art center at 5020 S. Cornell Ave. for the new “The Latest Sun is Sinking Fast,” an installation incorporating 16mm films, sound recordings and architecture.

Bass will be available during a reception from 3-5 p.m. on Jan. 18.

According to the art center, the new work adds to a narrative of a fractured fictional American landscape.

The exhibit will run through April 19.
