Artists Try To Revitalize Landscapes in Art for 'Lands End' Exhibit

HYDE PARK — Thirteen artists are revitalizing the concept of landscapes in art for a new exhibition opening Jan. 9 at the Logan Center for the Arts.

The “Lands End” exhibition will feature work from 13 sculptors, painters and performance and installation artists in Gallery 107, with events with the artists at the Logan Center, 915 E. 60th St., through the close of the exhibit on March 15.

Canadian artist Gillian Dykeman will lead a free performance art tour called “Mountain Valley Mountain Tours” of the University of Chicago campus at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Jan 9.

Norwegian artist Andreas Siqueland will talk about how he tries to create an active relationship with the natural subjects of his paintings at 6 p.m. Jan. 12.

Woodlawn-based artist Dan Peterman and Humboldt Park-based artist Claire Pentecost will sit down with art critic Brian Holmes for a discussion about their work in the exhibit at 6 p.m. on Feb. 16.

The Logan Center will host an opening reception for the exhibit from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 9.

All events are free and open to the public.
