CHICAGO — Police are warning residents to be alert of their surroundings after two people were robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon in Lakeview.

Around 1:05 p.m., a black woman approached a group in the 3700 block of North Wayne Avenue and showed a gun before robbing them. She drove away from the street north on Wayne Avenue in a older model white car, police said.

About 20 minutes later, a black man with dreadlocks standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing about 250 pounds robbed someone in the 3600 block of North Bosworth Avenue, police said. He fled the scene in a similar car with a license plate beginning in "Y25," police said.

Anyone with information on the robberies should call Area North Detectives at 312-744-8263.
